Mirar

Design by Elena Salmistraro

The Mirar sideboard, from the Spanish word for ‘to look’, draws its shape and design from a glance. A sort of abstract painting that seeks to portray a face, using the colours of beautiful natural wood essences as its palette.

A parallelepiped with rounded sides simulates the roundness of a face, while the tonal differences created by the change in wood types mark the circularity of the eyes. The central compartment, left open, suggests a nose. A different way of observing the world, a different way of designing wood.
